With reference to our letter of 12th February,

1931, regarding the securities deposited with us on account

of the note issue of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking

Corporation in Hong Kong and the Straits Settlements, I

have the honour to report, for the information of the

Secretary of State, that we have released £258,000 4%

Treasury Bonds 1931-33 to the Bank and have received in

exchange £258,000 42% Conversion Loan Bonds 1940-44.
